About Us

COBRA's campaign started in 2002 by asking the Scottish Executive to change the Perth & Kinross Council draft Structure Plan which proposed a general freight depot to be opened in Blackford. This would have greatly increased the level of HGV traffic through the village.

COBRA quickly gained widespread support for the reopening of Blackford station for passenger use and consideration of a dedicated freight halt for Highland Spring.

Organisation and management of the campaign is now undertaken by the COBRA committee, a voluntary group that was formally constituted in July 2006 . A copy of the constitution can be found here, a list of committee members and minutes of public and committee meetings can be found below.

Objectives

The key objectives of COBRA are :

  • To campaign for the re-opening of Blackford railway station.
  • To promote rail as an essential element in an environmentally friendly, sustainable, integrated transport system serving the Strathallan and Strathearn community in accordance with stated government objectives.
  • To develop and foster links between community transport providers, local bus operators and transport user groups.
